Renovation in progress

After the passing of her husband, Nasreen and her children moved in with her father-in-law. This allowed them to share housing costs and ensured her safety. Her father-in-law, Yacob, is elderly and works as a security guard. Fortunately, the family he has worked for a long time spares him from heavy labor. Nasreen also works full-time (six days a week), and all the children attend school. We have been supporting them monthly since 2021.

But renovating the house wasn’t possible—until now. I (Arnout) have visited them three times, and they are the kindest people you could imagine. The interior walls were unplastered, making it easy for insects to nest in every crevice. The floors and stairs were unfinished, and the kitchen was un-tiled. In the middle of the living room was a small toilet area, and the windows had no screens.

We had the entire house plastered, tiled the floors, stairs, and kitchen, added window screens, and moved the toilet to the upper floor. A complete transformation!
